Nigeria: N21 Billion Appeal Fund Not for Jonathan's Campaign - Jerry Gana

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the N21 billion recently raised at its launching in Abuja is not for President Goodluck Jonathan's campaign.
Chairman of the fund raising committee and former minister of information, Professor Jerry Gana, disclosed this to newsmen, yesterday in Abuja. Gana said that the money would be used for the execution of PDP projects.
He said the money would be used to complete the PDP secretariat in Abuja which work was started in 2010 but abandoned two years after, due to lack of funds.
The former minister said the party's national secretariat which would be completed this year, would gulp over N10 billion from the realised amount, while the remaining money would be spent on other PDP projects. He said the PDP will do a vigorous campaign in all parts of the country, including the North-east, despite security challenges in the region, stressing that the PDP would have a landslide victory over the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.
He expressed optimism that Nigeria would have free, fair and credible general elections, considering its political maturity at this time. "We are going to campaign effectively, we are going to organise, we are going to direct, we are going to mobilise and we believe the elections will be free, fair and credible. Political leaders must preach for peace and stability of the nation and not violence."
Gana said to prove that the PDP administration has transformed all sectors in the nation under President Jonathan, the party would campaign by rail mainly because the country's railway system has been revived.
